NEO 2. Shelter

NEO 2. Shelter is an object that links the refuge of an old closet associated with my childhood memories with an audio recording of “fairy tales” hidden inside. The shelter arises from the need to tell stories and the effort to break free from the anthropocentric conception of the world, which hinders humans from better understanding the world and finding their own place in it. The inner spaces of the old closet are transformed by carving and repainting bark beetle paths, which I perceive as a possibility to record its perspective on the world and a space for my own dialogue with its perception. The stories/fairy tales are based on my own human experience, attempts to empathize with the life of the bark beetle and its overall personification.
